Each spring, the ADA hosts a Dental Students’ Conference on Research in Bethesda and Gaithersburg Maryland. This annual gathering of dental students from over 50 schools in the U.S. and Canada is sponsored by the American Dental Association through its ADA Foundation with the support of Pfizer Consumer Healthcare. Each year the ADA sends a letter to the dean of every dental school in the U.S. and Canada inviting them to send one representative. Deadline for registration is January 20, 2008.
The goal of this conference is to introduce outstanding dental students to scientists from the ADA, industry, National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, and the ADA Foundation’s Paffenbarger Research Center to raise their awareness of the wide-ranging careers available in oral health research. Students spend three days getting to know each other, seeing and hearing about oral health research from leading scientists and touring top research centers like the National Institutes of Health campus. Students also participate in poster presentations and discussions.
For over 40 years, the Conference has played an integral role in introducing future oral health researchers to a full spectrum of scientific activities and career opportunities in oral health research. The ADA strongly supports today’s dental students as they pursue tomorrow’s scientific explorations in oral health research for the benefit of the general public and future generations.
