These informational materials were designed to meet the needs of three different audiences. Target audiences are employers, dentists and brokers. Some of the pieces are appropriate for everyone and may be used to pass on to the benefits plan decision makers. Most of the Direct Reimbursement (DR) materials are available for distribution as is; however, anyone that uses ADA materials must sign an annual licensing agreement that spells out the terms of use.

Dental Plans Benefits Made Simple Brochure Dental Plans, Benefits Made Simple (Brochure) is a short brochure intended for employers. This 4 x 9-inch brochure explains the concept of DR and has a business reply card for those who want further information. The information in the brochure is presented in a concise, bulleted and easy-to-read format. These brochures are often displayed in dental offices and at trade shows.

Dental Plans Benefits Made Simple Kit Dental Plans, Benefits Made Simple (DR Kit)– Also, referred to as the "DR Kit", this 9 x 12-inch booklet with folder pockets explains the concept of DR and contains sample plan designs, commonly asked questions and answers, a sample Summary Plan Document (SPD), sample claim forms and a cost estimation form used for acquiring DR cost estimates. This booklet is appropriate for companies that wish to design, implement and administer a DR dental plan themselves, without the aid of a broker or third-party administrator (TPA).

An Introduction Bridge Piece An Introduction (Bridge piece) serves as a "bridge" piece between the DR brochure and the DR Kit. In a Q & A format, this 6 x 9-inch booklet is an excellent tool for employers who are interested in more information about DR, as well as for brokers, benefits consultants and TPAs who wish to promote DR to clients. This is our most popular brochure and is sent to all employers who call the ADA for DR information. It is also available in Spanish.

Understanding Your Dental Benefits Understanding Your Dental Benefits (Booklet)
This guide is intended to educate readers about the types of dental plans in the market, in order to help you determine which plan might be right for you and your company. It offers specific questions for you to ask before changing or selecting a new dental plan. It also will help you determine who to provide coverage for under your plan and how coordination of benefits should be determined. Finally, you will be encouraged to utilize the ADA's Plan Analysis Service, which provides a review of your current or proposed plan at no charge.

A Plan Analysis Service Brochure Understanding Your Dental Plan, ADA Plan Analysis Service (Brochure)
DBIS/Third-Party Issues staff will review any current or proposed dental plan for an employer or other group plan purchaser. Plan reviews address the level and scope of coverage, as well as benefits language. If a company would like to take advantage of the plan analysis, a representative from the company’s HR department should complete the form in this brochure or in the Buyer's Guide.

A Great Plan for Your Patients and Your Practice A Great Plan for Your Patients and Your Practice (Laminated card) is a quick-reference sized card, laminated for easy insertion in the CDT Manual, which concisely summarizes the DR concept for dentists and their office staff. It defines DR and lists the primary benefits to patients, employers and dental offices.

A Guide for Brokers and Benefits Consultants A Guide for Brokers and Benefits Consultants (Brochure) is a brochure that explains the concept of DR and shows brokers and benefits consultants how they can include DR plans in their portfolios for their clients. It also includes the four major incentives brokers have to become trained DR brokers.

Marketing Leaflet Marketing leaflet (business envelope insert) is a 3 ¾ x 8 ½ inch flyer that fits into a business size envelope and lists the features of a direct reimbursement dental plan. The leaflet provides a bulleted list of the distinguishing features that identify a DR plan.

PowerPoint Presentations PowerPoint Presentations
Starter presentations are available offering text that explains the concept of DR, stressing its cost containment features. These presentations are tailored to employers, dentists, dental society staff, brokers/consultants and TPAs.

This presentation may be used to promote Direct Reimbursement, in its entirety and without any modifications, provided that:

  • The user shall not suggest or imply that the use of this presentation constitutes an endorsement by the ADA of the user or of his/her DR promotions.
  • The user's DR promotion shall not: (a) contain or be linked to any inappropriate criticism of other dental benefit plans; (b) be part of any anti-competitive activity, such as a boycott or price fixing and/or (c) be otherwise unlawful.
  • The user shall remain responsible for all aspects of his/her DR promotions, and agrees to indemnify, hold harmless and bring no claim against the American Dental Association, its officers, trustees, employees and/or agents in connection with his/her DR promotion, including without limitation with respect to the use of this presentation.
