$1 million donation 'sets the bar'

Pediatric dental education got a major boost in November 2006, thanks to a $1 million pledge from Dr. Jerome B. Miller of Oklahoma City. The Miller Pediatric Dental Education Fund is a donor-advised fund within the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Foundation, a partner organization of the Dental Education: Our Legacy–Our Future campaign. Three new leaders have stepped up to offer their expertise for the Dental Education: Our Legacy—Our Future initiative. Dr. Leslie W. Seldin and Dr. David C. Johnsen are vice chairs for the national effort and Dr. Kenneth L. Kalkwarf is the new recipient partner chair. These leaders, along with co-chairs Dr. Cecile Feldman and Dr. Richard Haught and Dr. Arthur A. Making a difference
'Our Legacy—Our Future'

It only takes one person to change the course of a life. It only takes one person to make a difference. In my life, that person was my family's dentist. In 8th grade, he asked me to come down to see the dental school at which he taught. He was practicing and teaching part-time as a clinician. Even today, I remember that he was a well-read, highly educated individual who was passionate about being a dentist and even more passionate about teaching others to love dentistry and dental education.
