FBI dental forensics coding course set for May

By Arlene Furlong Portland, Ore.—The Federal Bureau of Investigation's Criminal Justice Information Services Division is sponsoring a May 16-17 workshop here on coding dental forensic information for the National Crime Information Center and the National Dental Image Repository.
Located at The Nines in Portland, the training session is designed to provide NCIC dental coding and NDIR instruction to licensed dentists who wish to provide assistance to law enforcement in the identification of missing and unidentified person cases.
The training is free, but enrollment is limited to 40 people. Registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Registrants should be licensed dentists. A certificate will be issued for 16 hours of training at the conclusion of the course.
Instruction will include, but is not limited to, topics including the NCIC system: NCIC overview; missing, unidentified, and wanted person file overview; NCIC Supplemental Dental Record; NCIC Dental Comparison Algorithms; coding of missing and unidentified person records; interpreting NCIC Cross Match Reports; and NDIR overview and submission.
