CMS Web site lists dentists participating in Medicaid, CHIP

Washington—The government Aug. 4 posted a list of Children's Health Insurance Program and Medicaid participating dentists on the Insure Kids Now Web site at www.insurekidsnow.gov  .
The same information is available via the Insure Kids Now hotline (1-877-KIDS NOW).
This information is one requirement of the new Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act (CHIPRA) and is being coordinated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Health Resources and Services Administration with the cooperation and participation of the State Medicaid and CHIP programs.
CMS said the requirement is designed to help Medicaid and CHIP beneficiaries locate a participating dentist in their local area. The list will be updated quarterly with information provided by the states.
"We welcome your participation by providing dental services to beneficiaries and wanted to be sure you know you may receive an increase in call volume for appointments because of the information now available on the Web," Dr. Conan Davis, CMS chief dental officer, said in the CMS announcement. "We would also like to invite you to add your name to the list by agreeing to participate in your state program."
