In addition to serving as Editor for the ADA Professional Product Review, Dr. David C. Sarrett is a professor of dentistry and the Associate Vice President for Health Sciences—Academic Affairs, Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center.

Dr. Sarrett earned his D.M.D. degree from the University of Florida College of Dentistry in 1977 and completed an M.S. degree in Materials Science and Engineering, with an emphasis on polymers and composite, at the University of Florida in 1988.

In addition to his academic and research roles, Dr. Sarrett has practiced general dentistry since graduating from dental school.

Dr. Sarrett has served as the President of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) Dental Materials Group, a member of the Board of Directors of the Academy of Dental Materials, and as Transactions Editor for the Academy of Dental Materials. He has published numerous scientific articles and abstracts and lectures at local, national and international dental meetings. Dr. Sarrett has served as a member of the American Dental Association Council on Scientific Affairs and is currently an Associate Editor for the Journal of the American Dental Association.
