Overview
CDC has provided updated guidance (11/23/09) on preventing 2009 H1N1 influenza transmission in dental health care settings. This guidance includes new recommendations on using airborne infection isolation rooms, N95 respirators, and infection control measures for personnel with influenza-like illness.

What can the Dental Team do to be Prepared?
- Pay close attention to proper hand hygiene
and coughing etiquette . The CDC has developed a poster for patients that can be downloaded and displayed in the dental office reception area or waiting room.1
- Employ appropriate infection control procedures as outlined by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention2
- Stay informed
- Know the contact information for your local or state health department
