Meth Mouth Media Briefing
The American Dental Association joined federal legislators in announcing support for two bills aimed at preventing and treating “meth mouth,” a condition where teeth can become blackened, stained, rotting and crumbling from methamphetamine addiction. More than 12 million Americans have tried methamphetamine (also known as meth, crank, crystal and speed), which can be swallowed, injected, snorted or smoked, according to the 2003 National Survey on Drug Use and Health. The majority of users range between 18 and 34 years of age.

Water Fluoridation: Celebrating 60 Years of Tooth Decay Prevention
The American Dental Association endorses the fluoridation of community water supplies and the use of fluoride-containing products as safe and effective measures for preventing tooth decay. Water fluoridation is the controlled adjustment of the natural fluoride concentration in a public water supply up to the level recommended for preventing tooth decay. In 2005, the ADA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention commemorated the 60th anniversary of community water fluoridation.
