ADA Foundation Seeks Oral Health Proposals for Grants up to $100,000

Letters of intent must be received by July 16, 2007

CHICAGO, June 7, 2007—The ADA Foundation (ADAF) has issued a request for proposals of up to $100,000 per year under its Strategic Alliance Grant Program to raise awareness about the importance of oral health.

According to the ADAF, the proposals should support one or more of the foundation’s mission areas: dental research, education or access to care. Those with an implementation period of two to three years will receive priority. The ADAF will collaborate with its alliance partners to expand the measurable impact of the funded initiatives.

Participation Eligibility

Organizations interested in applying for a Strategic Alliance Grant must submit a Letter of Intent by July 16, 2007. If approved, the ADAF will request submission of a full proposal.

More than one organization may receive a grant and the ADAF encourages proposals from within and outside the dental community. Nonprofit or publicly funded organizations based in the United States and its territories are eligible to participate.

Examples of qualified organizations include:

  • National associations, federal agencies
  • Dental schools
  • State associations, state health departments
  • Foundations, national nonprofits, and museums
  • State or national organizations that can carry out research, education or access initiatives to increase oral health awareness
  • Other organizations with an interest in improving oral health of the public.

General examples of alliance projects can include, but are not limited to:

  • Measurable public awareness, health education or health promotion initiatives targeted toward identified population(s) to improve oral health awareness and change self-care or care-seeking behaviors.
  • Research to test communications directed at the public or professional audiences to change oral health behavior.
  • Promotion and capacity building of oral health prevention and treatment initiatives designed to improve oral health and reduce oral disease(s).
  • Other measurable efforts to enhance the oral health of identified populations.
