Florida Dental Educator Elected ADA Trustee

CHICAGO, October 27, 2008—Dr. Samuel B. Low, D.D.S., M.S., M.Ed., professor of Periodontology and associate dean at the College of Dentistry, University of Florida, was installed as a trustee of the American Dental Association (ADA). Dr. Low’s installation took place in San Antonio at the ADA's 149th Annual Session, October 16-21.

Dr. Low will serve on the ADA Board as the trustee from the 17th District (Florida). The ADA Board formulates and reviews policies and programs and makes recommendations to the members of the ADA's governing body, the House of Delegates. As a member of the Board, Dr. Low will play a major role in the ADA's organizational objective of being America’s leading advocate for oral health.

Dr. Low is a past president of the Florida Dental Association and was a Delegate in both the ADA and Florida House of Delegates. He is also the president-elect of the American Academy of Periodontology.

He was honored as the Florida Dental Association’s “Dentist of the Year” and received the Schwartz Lifetime Achievement Award.

A graduate of the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston, Dr. Low received a Masters degree in education from the University of Florida. He maintains a private practice in periodontics and placement of implants.
