Indianapolis Dentist Elected ADA Trustee

CHICAGO, October 23, 2008—Dr. Charles Steffel, an Indianapolis endodontist (root canal specialist) and part-time Associate Professor at the Indiana University School of Dentistry, was installed as a trustee of the American Dental Association (ADA). Dr. Steffel’s installation took place in San Antonio at the ADA's 149th Annual Session, October 16-21.

Dr. Steffel will serve on the ADA Board as the trustee from the Seventh District (representing Indiana and Ohio.) The ADA Board formulates and reviews policies and programs and makes recommendations to the members of the ADA's governing body, the House of Delegates. As a member of the Board, Dr. Steffel will play a major role in the ADA's organizational objective of being America’s leading advocate for oral health.

Dr. Steffel was previously a member of the ADA Reference Committee on Communications and Membership. He was an ADA Delegate from 1990 to 1996 and again from 1999 to 2001.

He served as president of the Indiana Dental Association in 2001 and 2002 and president of the Indianapolis District Dental Society in 1991 and 1992.  Dr. Steffel also served on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Endodontists.

A graduate of Indiana University School of Dentistry, Dr. Steffel did his endodontic residency at the Boston University H. Goldman School of Graduate Dentistry.

Dr. Steffel and wife, Nancy Oster Steffel, Ed.D. are the parents of Mary Louise Steffel and Laura Ann Steffel (deceased).
