Nebraska Dental Educator Elected ADA Trustee

CHICAGO, October 27, 2008—Dr. Edward John Vigna, D.D.S, who serves on the adjunct faculty at the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry, was installed as a trustee of the American Dental Association (ADA). Dr. Vigna’s installation took place in San Antonio at the ADA's 149th Annual Session, October 16-21.

Dr. Vigna will serve on the ADA Board as the trustee from the 10th District (representing Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota). The ADA Board formulates and reviews policies and programs and makes recommendations to the members of the ADA's governing body, the House of Delegates. As a member of the Board, Dr. Vigna will play a major role in the ADA's organizational objective of being America’s leading advocate for oral health.

Dr. Vigna’s previous responsibilities with the ADA include serving on the ADA Council of Scientific Affairs and for six years on the ADA Political Action Committee (ADPAC), with his last two years as ADPAC Chairman.

Having previously served as the Lincoln District Dental Association President and Nebraska Dental Association President, Dr. Vigna is a member of the Nebraska Dental Association Hall of Fame. He currently serves on the National Advisory Committee of the Samuel D. Harris National Museum of Dentistry.

A graduate of the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry, Dr. Vigna’s wife, Diane Vigna, is associate professor of Textiles, Clothing and Design at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. They have three married children and three grandchildren.
