American Dental Association President Testifies Before House Appropriations Committee on HHS Oral Health Programs Funding
WASHINGTON, May 12, 2010 – American Dental Association President Dr. Ronald L. Tankersley today urged members of the House Appropriations Committee to continue to provide adequate funding for Department of Health and Human Services oral health programs.
Dr. Tankersley noted programs by the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, including research networks to answer questions that private practice dentists face every day in treating their patients. These networks allow for the rapid translation of scientific advances into clinical practice. He also spoke of the institute’s research into salivary diagnostics, which one day could be used to screen for a variety of cancers and other chronic health conditions.
