Operative Dentistry Application as an Interest Area in General Dentistry

The Council on Dental Education and Licensure (CDEL) received a request from the Academy of Operative Dentistry (AOD) to recognize operative dentistry as an interest area in general dentistry.

The Council invited written comment from individuals and organizations on the application. Comments had to relate directly to the Criteria for Recognition of Interest Areas in General Dentistry. The application and appendices submitted by AOD are still available below:

Also, in accord with the Recognition Process, the Council conducted an open hearing and invited oral testimony and written comment at the ADA 2014 Dental Meeting in San Antonio, Texas. The Council will consider the application, the recommendation of the Recognition of Specialties and Interest Areas in General Dentistry Committee and all comments received at its April 30 – May 1, 2015 meeting. Subsequently, the Council's recommendation regarding this application will be forwarded to the 2015 ADA House of Delegates.
