Important Change to NBDE and INBDE Eligibility Criteria
On April 10, 2020, the JCNDE announced that it will extend the last date to take the National Board Dental Examination (NBDE) Part I to October 31, 2020 for ALL qualified dental candidates (i.e., regardless of whether or not they were trained by CODA-accredited dental programs).
The Integrated National Board Dental Examination (INBDE) will be available for administration beginning on August 1, 2020, and the NBDE Part II will be discontinued on August 1, 2022.
Important Note Concerning Periodontics Terminology
In 2017, the American Academy of Periodontology introduced new classifications. These new classifications will appear on the INBDE. Download and review the information below.
During the transition period, it is recommended that individuals become knowledgeable with both sets of classifications, because individual researchers, practitioners, and existing textbooks can communicate information using either set of classifications. Periodontal educators recommend that individuals refer to the 2017 World Workshop On the Classification of Periodontal and Peri-implant Diseases and Conditions on the American Academy of Periodontology website.
