Call for Comments for New ADA Clinical Practice Guideline on the Use of Nonsurgical Treatments for Caries Management
An expert panel convened by the American Dental Association’s Council on Scientific Affairs is working with the ADA Center for Evidence-Based Dentistry (EBD) to develop a clinical practice guideline on the use of nonsurgical treatments for caries management. The expert panel’s recommendations were informed by a systematic review of the best available scientific evidence, and final manuscripts will be published in a peer-reviewed journal later this year.
As part of the guideline development process, the public is being asked to comment on the guideline’s recommendation statements, which are available below.

If offering specific feedback, please note the exact part of the guideline’s recommendations that you are referring to and provide any supporting scientific references.
All submitted feedback will be reviewed by the Center for EBD and will aid in the development of the upcoming guideline. The deadline for comments is April 16, 2018.
As a side note, the chair of the expert panel developing this guideline, Dr. Rebecca Slayton, will present the guideline’s final recommendations during a talk titled “Be a Nonsurgical Caries Management Matchmaker” at the ADA 2018 national meeting.
