CHICAGO, May 13, 2011 - Dentists interested in learning how to implement evidence-based dentistry (EBD) in their practices or mentoring colleagues about EBD are invited to attend the American Dental Association (ADA) Evidence-Based Dentistry Champions Conference in Chicago in July.

Only 100 applicants will be selected to participate in the conference that will take place at ADA Headquarters, 211 E. Chicago Ave., July 28-30. Attendees of the conference will earn 11 to 14 continuing education credit hours. This is the fourth consecutive year for the conference, which this year is sponsored by the ADA. The conference sessions are free, but applicants must fund their own travel expenses and hotel accommodations. Applications are due June 10.

The objectives of the conference are to recruit and teach dentists how to apply EBD principles and tools in their clinical decision-making as well as train them on how to share their knowledge with the dental profession as EBD Champions.

The conference is open to dentists with leadership skills from practice, academic and public health backgrounds with leadership skills who are interested in promoting EBD to their dental and medical colleagues, peers and decision-makers. The goal is for the participants to become EBD Champions and serve as resources to their local dental communities by promoting an evidence-based approach to patient treatment and disease prevention.

The EBD Champions Conference is a product of the ADA Center for Evidence-Based Dentistry. The ADA created the Center for EBD to connect the latest research findings with the daily practice of dentistry. The EBD Web site provides on-demand access to systematic reviews, summaries and clinical recommendations that translate the latest scholarly findings into a user-friendly format that dentists can use with their patients.
