Cleveland smiles: Sir C.C., the Cleveland Cavaliers' newest mascot, joins happy children Feb. 3 at the Ohio Dental Association's kickoff Give Kids A Smile event at Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine. A total of 525 children from five Cleveland elementary schools received care in the Case dental school clinic and pediatric dental clinics as well as the visiting Ronald McDonald Care Mobile. More than smiles: Mercy Ships reports that it's participating in Give Kids A Smile Feb. 3 in Lomé, Togo—a small country with a seaside port in West Africa. An organization that uses hospital ships to deliver free health care services to those without access in the developing world, Mercy Ships said that dental patients are being treated alongside the world's largest privately owned hospital ship, Africa Mercy. Togo has only 19 dentists and few people in sub-Saharan Africa receive adequate dental care. Pictured above, children from Lomé show off the toothbrushes they received from Africa Mercy volunteers.
