NASCAR's Greg Biffle honored for his GKAS support
February 06, 2012
Give Kids A Smile spokesman and NASCAR driver Greg Biffle received the fourth quarter 2011 Speedway Motorsports Spirit Award for his efforts to offer free dental care to kids at Charlotte Motor Speedway last fall.
“I’m excited to be recognized for my involvement in Give Kids A Smile,” said Mr. Biffle. “As a new dad, I understand the importance of dental health, and educating other parents and their children will go a long way in helping alleviate the devastation of oral disease.”
The National Motorsports Press Association award recognizes character and achievement in the face of adversity, sportsmanship and contributions to motorsports. Each year, quarterly winners are selected, and an overall winner is determined by a vote of NMPA members.
Driver of the No. 16 3M car, Mr. Biffle is the star of the Give Kids A Smile public service announcement, which debuted during an Oct. 14 press conference at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Media Center. Greg also made two visits to the GKAS tent on race weekend Oct. 14 and 15, greeting fans, signing autographs and encouraging kids to take care of their oral health before hitting the track for the Bank of America 500.
Greg also spread the GKAS message on Sirius Radio Oct. 13 and the ESPN NASCAR Now television program on Oct. 14.
