March 19, 2012

By Stacie Crozier, ADA News staff

If you didn’t get a chance to experience the ADA’s first hybrid meeting in real time last fall, you should mark your calendar for April 20—when you can log on to watch live-patient CE courses recorded during the 2011 Annual Session in Las Vegas and participate in live chats with two course speakers.

ADA members can sign in on this special one-day event at “” to view two of the live-patient courses recorded during last year’s Annual Session and ask questions of the speakers during the presentation.

“Join us online April 20 to witness some of the great continuing education offered during the Annual Session,” said Dr. Kent Percy, 2012 chair, Council on ADA Sessions. “You’ll watch outstanding live-patient courses from start to finish while being able to chat with the speakers in real time.

A broadcast of Live Surgical Demonstration of an Extraction/Ridge Preservation Procedure, presented by Dr. Tim Hempton, will begin at 11 a.m. Eastern time and Dr. Hempton will be available to answer questions in a live chat during the presentation.

And, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Eastern time, the recording of the course Minimally Invasive Dentistry: Solving Anterior Esthetic Problems with Composite Resin, presented by Dr. Wynn Okuda, will air, and Dr. Okuda will also be available for a live chat during the broadcast.

ADA365 offers dentists year-round access to videotaped Annual Session sessions, providing viewers with a chance to view courses presented last fall in Las Vegas.

The 2011 Annual Session was the ADA’s first “hybrid” meeting experience, giving participants the chance to attend the meeting in person or experience some high-profile elements of the meeting live via the Internet. More than 25 hours of CE was videotaped on-site in Las Vegas and offered live on the website, where viewers could log on, watch a course and ask questions of the speakers in a real-time chat. These 25 hours of educational content are still posted online and available to dentists when they use their ADA member number and the password “ADA365” to log on.

Other recordings available online include the Open Clinical and Science Forums: Safety and Effectiveness of Dental Restorations and TMD Facts and Opinions; a virtual tour of the Pride Institute Technology Expo where you can see the 2011 Pride Institute Best of Class Technology Winners, high-tech products selected by Pride Institute’s Tech Expert Leadership Council as having the greatest impact in their categories; and a virtual tour of the 3-D Imaging Center, which allows Annual Session attendees to compare the functionality of 3-D imaging equipment from leading manufacturers and learn how this technology can enhance their ability to treat patients; Going For the Gold! Learn to Function Like a Champion Olympic Team, presented by Terry Schroeder, Olympic water polo coach; the opening remarks from the Opening General Session and more.

ADA365 also includes a video tour of three exhibits from last year’s Annual Session including Colgate, Gendex and P&G Crest Oral B; and an exhibit showcase featuring video presentations from CareCredit, E4D, Gendex, Patterson, Philips Sonicare, Philips Zoom, Prexion 3D, SurePayroll and The Dental Record.

“On Oct. 18-21, 2012, plan to be in San Francisco for the Annual Session to see more of these live-patient courses and attend lectures and workshops by some of the world’s best dental presenters, in addition to learning about new products and techniques from hundreds of national and international exhibitors,” added Dr. Percy. “If you are unable to attend, there is still an opportunity to be part of the community. The ADA’s hybrid program, ADA365, will once again provide some of the on-site excitement and education.”

To log on to the dentist-only area of ADA365, dentists may use their ADA member number plus the password “ADA365.”

Member dentists who want to log on should have a unique email address on file with the ADA. To add or update email address information, members can log on to and click on the “Update Personal Information” link or contact the ADA Member Service Center Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Central Standard Time using the toll-free number on their member card.

These recorded courses are not eligible for CE credit. Visit for more information.
