Stay through Sunday

ADA seeks 800 Mission of Mercy volunteers

May 20, 2013

New Orleans—Annual Session-goers who volunteer for the Mission of Mercy free dental clinic event on Sunday, Nov. 3 can create a thousand Big Easy smiles in New Orleans.

The MOM event hopes to treat 1,000 patients between 5:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. in a temporary 100-chair clinic near the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

Dentists, dental team members, dental and dental team students, office staff, families and friends (age 18 and older) who will be in New Orleans for the Annual Session Oct. 31-Nov. 3 are encouraged to volunteer.

Dental professionals are welcome to share information with potential volunteers but are asked to not post it or share in any public forum. The ADA MOM team will work closely with local representatives to get the word out to potential patients just prior to the event. In the meantime, organizers do not want any patients putting off needed emergency care while trying to wait for the MOM event and want to minimize the chance of having to turn away local residents in need because the clinic has exceeded its capacity to deliver care.
