ADA CERP ensures CE quality
June 16, 2014
Thanks to the ADA Continuing Education Recognition Program, established in 1993, members can have the assurance that the courses offered by 400 continuing education providers are of the highest quality.
“A dentist can attend a CE course knowing that the information presented will be based on available scientific evidence, will be organized using sound educational methods, that potential commercial or promotional conflicts of interest will be disclosed and that course faculty have appropriate credentials and experience,” said Dr. Teresa Dolan, chair of the Council on Dental Education and Licensure.
Through an application and review process, the ADA CERP evaluates and recognizes institutions and organizations that provide continuing dental education.
The program also assists regulatory agencies and organizations that have CE requirements to identify CE providers whose activities are acceptable for credit.
The ADA CERP evaluates providers of continuing dental education in 14 aspects of CE program quality. Those who meet the standards are granted approval and are authorized to use the ADA CERP logo and recognition statement.
The ADA CERP recognition process ensures that a CE provider has demonstrated the ability to provide continuing education to the high standards defined by the CERP guidelines.
“It is important that the ADA continues to set the standards for quality continuing education, and thus, this is a unique benefit to the members and the profession overall,” Dr. Dolan said.
