The ADA Foundation named Cindy Hearn of CareCredit and Dr. Michael Shreck as its 2014 Smile Champions for their exemplary support of the Give Kids A Smile program. The pair will receive the honors in an awards ceremony Oct. 10 at ADA 2014 in San Antonio.
Give Kids A Smile is the American Dental Association's signature national access-to-care program that provides free dental screenings, treatment and education to underserved children. Since 2011 the ADA Foundation, through its Give Kids A Smile Fund, has provided financial support for the program totaling almost $1.4 million.
Ms. Hearn, Vice President, Branding & Communications at CareCredit, will receive the Steven W. Kess Give Kids A Smile Corporate Volunteer Award.
Dr. Shreck, a member of the Nassau County Dental Society in New York and a private practice dentist in Nassau County, will receive the Jeffrey Dalin, D.D.S., Give Kids A Smile Volunteer Award.
During the award ceremony, each winner will receive a commemorative crystal trophy with a special inscription. More details about the ceremony and the Smile Champion award honorees will be covered in an upcoming issue of ADA News.
The ADA Foundation presents the Smile Champion awards annually to recognize the winners' tireless efforts to expand the GKAS program's reach to more underserved children nationwide. Since its founding more than 10 years ago, GKAS has provided dental services for nearly 4.5 million children.
