Bangkok — For the first time in its history, the FDI Annual World Dental Congress will take place in Thailand, here in its largest city, Sept. 22-25 at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Center.

The FDI World Dental Federation and the Thai Dental Association will host dentists and dental team members from across the globe as the 103rd congress explores the theme “Dentistry in the 21st Century.”

Scientific programming will cover a spectrum of dental topics including aesthetic dentistry, anesthesia and dental emergencies; orthodontics; endodontics; implantology; oral medicine; pediatric dentistry; restorative materials and more.

Dentists interested in presenting at the meeting may submit an abstract by April 15. Abstracts must be in English, the official language of the congress.

Social programming will introduce the delights of Bangkok and Thai culture. Bangkok became the capital of Thailand in 1782. According to the FDI preliminary program, “Thai rarely call their capital ‘Bangkok’ but instead refer to it as ‘Krung Thep’ (City of Angels), an abbreviated version of the full ceremonial and official name.

“Its high-rise buildings, heavy congestion, intense heat and naughty nightlife may not immediately give you the best impression — but don’t let that mislead you. It is one of Asia’s most cosmopolitan cities with magnificent temples and palaces, authentic canals, busy markets and a vibrant nightlife that has something for everyone.”
