Eighty-seven-year-old photo rediscovered

November 02, 2015

History: Dr. Richard Valachovic, American Dental Education Association president and CEO, stands next to a an 87-year-old photo rediscovered in the ADA Library & Archives. The photograph, found in January, is of members and guests of the American Association of Dental Schools at a meeting with U.S. President Calvin Coolidge at the west entrance of the White House in March 1928. The American Association of Dental Schools was renamed the American Dental Education Association in 2000. The American Association of Dental Schools held its 5th annual meeting in 1928 in Washington, D.C. It is noted in the minutes that AADS President William H.G. Logan left the meeting to confirm the arrangements for the meeting at the White House. Dr. Valachovic reframed the photo, which is now mounted in ADEA’s reception area.
