New HRSA brief on oral health

October 27, 2015 Rockville, Md. — The Health Resources and Services Administration has published a new informational brief, "Oral Health: Across the Agency," that promotes the HRSA programs and resources available to help clinicians increase access to quality health care.

The brief also contains key oral health statistics from fiscal year 2014, including:

  • HRSA health centers provided nearly 12 million dental visits in 2014, an increase of 29 percent since 2010.
  • More than 1,150 health centers provided preventive dental services.
  • Nearly 300 HRSA health center grantees expanded oral health services.
HRSA programs provide funding to health centers, states, academic institutions and other entities to train, recruit and retain health professionals including dentists and dental hygienists in efforts to increase access to quality oral health care.
