Can two combs explain genomics? Watch JADA video to see how

How will genomics enhance patient care in the future? What initiatives should ADA consider supporting in the emerging discipline of genomics in dentistry?
These questions and others about genomics in the future practice of dentistry are addressed in an exclusive The Journal of the American Dental Association video featuring Dr. Michael Glick, JADA editor, and Dr. Bruce Pihlstrom, JADA associate editor for research.
The two focus on questions that arose from an October 2015 conference at ADA headquarters called Navigating the Sea of Genomic Data, which the ADA hosted in partnership with the Task Force on Design and Analysis in Oral Health Research.
Dr. Pihlstrom said it is essential to ensure that the dental profession is prepared as genomics becomes part of the greater health care framework.
“Researchers and educators and practitioners … all are aware this is here, the future is now and it’s going to be ever expanding as we go forward,” he said.
The video is available at jada.ada.org and complements an article in March JADA summarizing key points from speakers at the conference.
