CDC hosts June 22 opioids webinar; CE available

June 20, 2016 Atlanta — The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is launching a webinar series that addresses the agency's new recommendations for prescribing opioid medications.

The first webinar of the seven-part series will be held at 2 p.m. EST on June 22 and will provide an overview of the CDC recommendations, including when and how opioids should be initiated for chronic pain, how to assess risk and address the harms of opioid use, and when and how opioids should be discontinued. Each one-hour webinar will offer free continuing education credit and will be available as a live webinar broadcast and as an archived recording.

The ADA encourages dentists to talk to their patients about the dangers of using opioid painkillers for nonmedical purposes.
