Drinking Water Week highlights invaluable resource

May 02, 2016 The vital role tap water plays in daily life is highlighted May 1-7 during American Water Works Association's Drinking Water Week.

Celebrated to underscore the importance of water suppliers, water service infrastructure, and the health and safety of tap water, the American Water Works Association encourages consumers to recognize the role water plays in our lives with kid-friendly games, videos and other resources available at

Water utilities, state agencies, environment advocate groups and others will mark Drinking Water Week with school events, public presentations, staff events and community festivals, according to the American Water Works Association.

The American Water Works Association supports the recommendations of the World Health Organization, American Medical Association, Canadian Medical Association, Centers for Disease Control, American Dental Association, Canadian Dental Association  and other professional organizations in the medical community, for the fluoridation of public water supplies as a public health benefit.
