When sending emails, PBHS provides security, simplicity

May 16, 2016 Walnut Creek, Calif. — As an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Ali Alijanian shares a great deal of private patient information back and forth between his office and referring dentists.

For him, making sure communications are secure, compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and easy to access are keys to providing excellent care and keeping his practice running smoothly.

"I strive to have a paperless office," Dr. Alijanian said. "So I wanted to make sure I had a trusted way to exchange information, X-rays and important patient data with my referrals on a secure platform. PBHS had the solution that provided everything I needed."

PBHS Secure Mail, endorsed by ADA Business Resources, allows Dr. Alijanian to share protected health information between practices and patients while complying with HIPAA and a minefield of data privacy requirements. Message data is stored and transmitted using secured military-grade encryption, and only the intended recipients can decode message data, documents and radiographs.

In addition to security, Dr. Alijanian said that using the Secure Mail Collaborator Solution from PBHS assures him that everything that comes to him from his referrals is in one place where he and his staff can easily search for what they need and access it quickly.

"Between knowing that my information is all organized and being sure that all my communications are HIPAA compliant, PBHS really gives me an increased peace of mind," he said.

Each ADA member's account is pre-certified and set up. There is no software to install, configure or maintain. Per the recently released Guidelines for the Secure Transmission of Protected Health Information, developed by the ADA Dental Informatics Subcommittee, more intensive Health Information Service Provider services are available upon request.

PBHS Secure Mail starts at $10 per month with options to add additional services. ADA members receive preferred pricing, and set-up fees are waived up to a $975 value. For more information, contact PBHS at 1-800-840-5383 or visit
