Dr. Anthony Volpe receives high honor from IADR

San Francisco — The International Association for Dental Research presented past ADA Foundation President Dr. Anthony Volpe with the IADR Distinguished Scientist Award in Pharmacology/Therapeutics/Toxicology research at its 95th General Session & Exhibition March 22.
Dr. Volpe, for whom the ADA Foundation Volpe Research Center is named after, is retired from Colgate-Palmolive Company, has lectured in the fields of pharmacology, periodontal disease and preventive dentistry and is a leading expert in the fields of clinical dental research and global dental caries, according to a news release. Additionally, he has practiced dentistry privately and is a former staff member at St. Peter's Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Supported by 3M Oral Care, the Pharmacology/Therapeutics/Toxicology Research Award is one of the 17 IADR Distinguished Scientist Awards and is one of the highest honors bestowed by IADR. The award is made for outstanding and sustained peer-reviewed research that has contributed to our knowledge of the mechanisms, efficacy, or safety of drugs used in dentistry and consists of a monetary prize and a plaque, according to the news release.
