January 27, 2017
The American Dental Association Institute for Diversity in Leadership is accepting applications through March 31 for its 2017-18 class.
The Institute is designed to enhance the leadership skills of dentists who belong to racial, ethnic and/or gender backgrounds that have been traditionally underrepresented in leadership roles within the profession and their communities.
“The [Institute] has not only provided it’s almost 200 graduates with new opportunities, it has also provided our profession an opportunity to thrive,” said Dr. Zack Kalarickal, a 2010 graduate of the program.
“The Institute provides participants training in business strategies and enhancement of leadership skills that super-charge many of their roles—not only in volunteer leadership, but also in dental practice, humanitarian service projects, business ventures and every day life. I will always be grate for the experience and the lifelong friendships inspired by the Institute.”
Participants will attend sessions led by management school faculty from Northwestern and Duke universities to help them develop and execute a personal leadership project that addresses an issue or challenge in his or her community, organization or the profession. The three sessions will be held at ADA Headquarters in Chicago.
Expenses to participate, including hotel and travel expenses, are covered by the ADA and sponsors. The Institute is made possible by contributions from Henry Schein, Inc. and Procter & Gamble.
