Cloud computing, searching for clinical information topics of technical reports available for review
May 10, 2017
Dental professionals can review technical reports about cloud computing and best practices related to searching electronic resources for clinical information.
The ADA Standards Committee on Dental Informatics has approved for circulation and comment the two reports before they are finalized.
Proposed ADA Technical Report No. 1091 for Cloud Computing: Implications and Recommendations for Dental Practice describes cloud computing and data usage; its benefits and risks; and recommendations for use by dental practitioners. Cloud computing brings users access to remote information using computers and hand-held mobile devices connected through a network.
The second report, Proposed ADA Technical Report No. 1095 for Electronic Resources for Access and Appraisal of Clinical Information, provides information on electronic resources that in turn provide detailed guidance on best practices in searching for clinically relevant research. It also provides guidance on how to determine the quality of research to help in clinical decision-making, and it includes information on the importance of evidence-based dentistry and a guide to the ADA Center for Evidence-Based Dentistry.
The deadline for comments on both reports is June 26. Copies of the draft technical reports are available by calling the ADA toll-free number, ext. 2506, or by emailing email@example.com
