ADA Seal logoSeveral oral health care products, including three power toothbrushes and a mouth rinse, earned the ADA Seal of Acceptance in the last quarter of 2017 and the first three months of 2018.

The ADA Council on Scientific Affairs' acceptance of the following items means the products' manufacturers met clinical and ADA laboratory requirements in addition to ADA and American National Standards Institute-approved dental standards, when applicable.

Here's a summary of the items:

  • The Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 4100 Plaque Control power toothbrush, PRO-SYS VarioSonic Powerbrush and the quip power toothbrush each earned the Seal based on the finding that the products are safe and have shown efficacy in removing plaque and helping prevent and reduce gingivitis.
  • TheraBreath Fresh Breath Oral Rinse (in Mild Mint and Invigorating Icy Mint) earned the Seal based on the finding that the product is safe and has shown efficacy in helping to reduce bad breath.
  • Tom's of Maine Children's Gel Fruitilicious toothpaste earned the Seal based on the finding that it is safe and has shown efficacy in helping prevent tooth decay.
  • Waterpik Whitening Water Flosser earned the Seal based on the finding that it is safe and has shown efficacy for removing plaque along the gumline and between teeth and helping to prevent and reduce gingivitis.
