Open Payments review, dispute period April 1-May 15
March 29, 2018
Baltimore — Dentists can review their Open Payments System data online from April 1–May 15 to see if it is accurate.
Open Payments is a federal program, required by the Affordable Care Act, that collects information about the payments drug and device companies make to dentists, physicians and teaching hospitals for things like travel, research, gifts, speaking fees, meals and ownership interests in drug and device companies, according to the
Open Payments website.
From April 1 through May 15, the data is open to review, affirm and, if necessary, dispute newly submitted records. Review of the data is voluntary but strongly encouraged by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which hosts the site. Disputes must be initiated during the review and dispute period in order to be reflected in the June 2018 publication. Links to instructions on how to view the data are included on the website.
In addition to the website, a help desk is available at
openpayments@cms.hhs.gov or 1-855-326-8366 (TTY: 1-844-649-2766)
