July 1 is deadline for International Volunteer Certificate applications

ADA members and student members who have volunteered in developing countries to improve the oral and overall health of individuals are eligible to receive a certificate of appreciation from the Association.
Applications are due July 1 for the Certificate for International Volunteer Service.
Some of the certificate criteria include:
- Current U.S.-based ADA membership. The member can be active, life, student or retired.
- Fourteen days of international volunteer service in any 24-month period. his work should be sponsored by a dental school or recognized nonprofit organization. A letter or email from the organization or dental school verifying service dates is required.
- The ADA may award a certificate to the same individual more than once, provided 14 new days of service have been completed for each certificate. Up to four international volunteer services examples per application per year are allowed.
- Award recipients will receive the certificate and a letter from the current ADA president thanking them for their service within 60 days after the July 1 deadline.
International Relations staff will verify membership, review online applications to determine criteria have been met, and contact the appropriate party if further information is needed.
