California Dental Association announces merger of three dentist insurance companies

. — The California Dental Association announced Sept. 18 that its subsidiary The Dentists Insurance Company will merge with two insurance companies, effective Jan. 1, 2019, upon regulatory approval.
The Dentists Insurance Company, which provides liability coverage exclusively for dentists, will merge with Dentists Benefits Insurance Company and Northwest Dentists Insurance Company. The Dentists Insurance Company had acquired both companies in February 2017.
"With nearly 40 years of providing high-quality products and services to our customers, we are thrilled to continue this legacy as we join the companies under the [The Dentists Insurance Company] brand and our shared dentist-centric vision," said Dr. Daniel Davidson, The Dentists Insurance Company board chair, in a news release.
Policyholders can expect a smooth transition with no disruption to the service, according to the California Dental Association in a news release. The Dentists Insurance Company focuses exclusively on supporting dentists by offering a comprehensive suite of professional and business liability, commercial property, workers' compensation, employment practices liability and cyber liability products to more than 19,000 dentists in 10 states. With the merger, the insurance company will add 5,000 additional policyholders in five states.
