Emergency kits: HealthFirst, the ADA Member Advantage-endorsed provider for emergency kits for dentists, launched a new program that would make medical kit drug replenishment easier for dental practices.
HealthFirst announced in May that it launched a new program that would make medical kit drug replenishment easier for dental practices, an effort to address issues dentists face with the volatility in the pharmaceutical supply chain. HealthFirst is the ADA Member Advantage-endorsed provider for emergency medical kits for dentists.

HealthFirst’s Practice Partner Program, for a flat fee, covers all drug replenishments no matter how many times HealthFirst has to replenish them throughout the year, whether due to emergency use or expiration.

The program can protect dental practices from higher expenditures due to shorter-than-expected shelf lives and price increases caused by pharmaceutical supply chain volatility. HealthFirst tracks expiration dates of medical kit drugs and sends replacements for them. In addition, the program includes trainings and resources for dental offices.

“Emergency preparedness goes beyond having an emergency medical kit and keeping the drugs up to date,” said Dr. Don Cohen, HealthFirst chief clinical officer and ADA member. “The dental practices served by HealthFirst have also indicated that they want emergency response training, emergency decision support and accurate medication dosing resources.”

The Practice Partner Program also includes EmergencyMDAssist, which connects dentists directly to an emergency medicine physician who can provide guidance over the phone in the case of a medical emergency and is familiar with HealthFirst’s emergency medical kits.

Another new feature of the program is SafeDose, an application that provides the correct medication dosing based on a patient’s weight, including administering local anesthetics or writing prescriptions.

“We are glad that member practices can benefit from predictability and protection from the volatility of the pharmaceutical market,”  said Earl Greene, General Manager of HealthFirst.  “One flat rate covers the whole program, from tracking services and the OnTraq practice readiness software to expired medications processing.”

ADA members will receive a 10% discount on their first year’s enrollment fee when they join the program. For more information on HealthFirst’s Practice Partner Program, visit HealthFirst.com/practice-partner or call 1-888-963-6787.
