An ADA webinar intends to inform dental providers about the products, trends for use and health harms of e-cigarette use.
E-cigarettes-What are the Facts Behind All That Vapor? will stream June 14 from 10-11 a.m. Central time.
The program will also provide information about the effects of e-cigarette flavors on oral health and the efforts to address the harms that e-cigarette products pose to young people.
The presenter is Brian King, Ph.D., the deputy director for research translation in Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Office on Smoking and Health. Dr. King has worked for nearly 15 years to provide scientific evidence to inform tobacco control policy and communicate this information to stakeholders. He has authored more than 150 scientific articles on tobacco control and was a contributing author to the 50th Anniversary Surgeon General’s Report on Smoking and Health, the lead author of CDC’s 2014 Best Practices for Comprehensive Tobacco Control Programs report, and senior associate editor of the 2016 Surgeon General’s Report on E-cigarette Use Among Youth and Young adults.
This is a partial rebroadcast of a previous webinar featuring presentations by Barbara Schillo, Ph.D., vice president of the Truth Initiative Schroeder Institute; Steve Schroeder, M.D., director of the Smoking Cessation Leadership Center; and Shinae Kim, Ph.D., project leader at the ADA Foundation Volpe Research Center. Dr. King will be on-hand live to deliver his presentation as well as answer questions.
One hour of continuing education credit is available to all participants who remain connected for at least 45 minutes.
