The American Student Dental Association announced March 12 that its House of Delegates elected its 2019-20 national president, vice presidents and speaker of the House of Delegates during its annual meeting held in Pittsburgh.

The organization elected Craig McKenzie, a second-year dental student at the University of Pennsylvania, as president. Mr. McKenzie has served as trustee to the national ASDA Board, national predental consultant and as chapter development chair for ASDA District 3.

"We must market the benefits of ASDA to administrations as an opportunity to increase student success without increasing the financial burden to schools," said Mr. McKenzie in a news release. "We must focus on ASDA's commitment to wellness and teaching dental students what they don't learn in the classroom."

Kai Huang, of the University of Alabama, and Brandon Rensch, of Creighton University, will serve as vice presidents. Mr. Huang previously served as trustee on ASDA's board and as vice president of his university's ASDA chapter. Mr. Rensch served as trustee to the national ASDA board, a liaison to the ADA's Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations and a student delegate to the ADA annual meeting.

Anisha Pandya, of Boston University, was elected speaker of the House of Delegates. Ms. Pandya served as a student delegate at the ADA annual meeting and held leadership roles as legislative liaison and executive committee member for her university's ASDA chapter.
