Federal government offers updated health care cybersecurity tool

The Office for Civil Rights and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology announced Oct. 30 the release of version 3.1 of the Health and Human Services Security Risk Assessment Tool.
The tool is designed to assist small- and medium-sized health care organizations in assessing security risks. New features of version 3.1 include threat and vulnerability validation, improved asset and vendor management, the capability to export the detailed report to Excel and the incorporation of National Institute of Standards and Technology cybersecurity framework references.
The Security Risk Assessment Tool and other health information resources are available from the HealthIT.gov website.
