Sept. 25 webinar to explore patient marijuana use

September 11, 2019

The ADA is hosting a webinar Sept. 25 focusing on the increase in patient marijuana use — both medicinally and recreationally — and the ways dentists may respond.

Claytor
Dr. Claytor

Dr. John William “Bill” Claytor, Jr. will lead the webinar. Dr. Claytor graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry and completed a two-year general practice residency at the Medical University of South Carolina. He earned a certificate in chemical dependency counseling and currently serves on the ADA’s Dental Well-Being Advisory Committee.  Upon completion of the webinar, participants should be able to:

• Discuss the use of marijuana and how it affects patients in the United States.

• Identify issues surrounding patients who use marijuana and its legal ramifications.

• Examine how state dental boards may have to address issues of marijuana usage by patients and dentists.

• Explore the truth about marijuana use in treating opioid addiction.

The webinar is free, will stream Sept. 25 from 2-3 p.m. Eastern, and offers eligibility for one hour of continuing education through ADA CERP.
