Sept. 25 webinar to explore patient marijuana use
September 11, 2019
The ADA is hosting a webinar Sept. 25 focusing on the increase in patient marijuana use — both medicinally and recreationally — and the ways dentists may respond.
Dr. John William “Bill” Claytor, Jr. will lead the webinar. Dr. Claytor graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry and completed a two-year general practice residency at the Medical University of South Carolina. He earned a certificate in chemical dependency counseling and currently serves on the ADA’s Dental Well-Being Advisory Committee.
Upon completion of the webinar, participants should be able to:
• Discuss the use of marijuana and how it affects patients in the United States.
• Identify issues surrounding patients who use marijuana and its legal ramifications.
• Examine how state dental boards may have to address issues of marijuana usage by patients and dentists.
• Explore the truth about marijuana use in treating opioid addiction.
The webinar is free, will stream Sept. 25 from 2-3 p.m. Eastern, and offers eligibility for one hour of continuing education through ADA CERP.
