Dental sealant webinar to stream Feb. 6

Free offering from ADA will present best practices on instituting robust sealant programs

January 17, 2020 The ADA will present a free webinar Feb. 6 on dental sealants, especially designed to help dental providers in communities that do not yet have sealant programs in place.

Seal the Deal: Dental Sealants and Community Health will stream from 2-3 p.m. Central time and offers one hour of continuing education credit.

Three dental providers will share their expertise on dental sealants with best practices.

The presenters include Dr. Irene Hilton, who has a 22-year history of planning and implementing long-term county department of public health school-based sealant programs and is an expert on school-based programs operated by federally qualified health centers; Dr. Domenic M. Caluori, a dentist with over 30 years of experience in the dental field and currently the chief dental officer of Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics; and Dr. Azma Ahmed, who serves as dental director of Native American Rehabilitation Association of the Northwest.

Attendees will learn from the presenters about program structure, the coordination of the dental care team and how targeting low-income populations can have high impact.

Dental sealants are a safe and effective practice to prevent continued dental decay, especially for pediatric patients. There are various programs that offer dental sealants, including school-based programs, health center collaborations and sealant evaluation programs.
