Letters: Educating the public

December 10, 2018

Does the ADA have the resources and will to mount a public education campaign to bring the important message of the Nov. 19 My View article "Does Dentistry Have a Role in Health Care," by Drs. Craig S. Miller, and Nelson L. Rhodus and John C. Robinson to the American public, possibly across several mass media platforms?

I recall, a few years ago, a national coalition was assembled to work with the Ad Council to reach target groups in order to have children brush their teeth twice daily for two minutes.

Letting the public at large know about the link between the mouth and the rest of the body via a 30-second video spot (possibly animated) might not only elevate the American public's perception of a dentist's training, knowledge and broad skill set but could also help elevate the number of dental office encounters across all age groups.
