About ADASRI

The ADA Science & Research Institute, LLC (ADASRI) is a 501(c)6 nonprofit research center of excellence devoted to all aspects of oral health. Our research delivers key insights for health professionals and policymakers, driving quality and innovation in dental care.

In 2020 alone:

  • ADASRI scientists conducted rigorous reviews of products seeking the ADA Seal of Acceptance, awarding the Seal to 24 new products.
  • ADASRI’s online clinical resources were viewed more than 1.5 million times.
  • ADASRI research was downloaded more than 230,000 times from the Journal of the American Dental Association. 
  • ADASRI published 37 new articles in peer-reviewed journals and made 34 virtual presentations at major oral health conferences. 
  • ADASRI received $2.2 million in research grants to advance new studies in oral health.

Dr. Marcelo Araujo is ADA chief science officer and chief executive officer of the ADA's research subsidiary, the ADA Science & Research Institute, LLC. Dr. Araujo provides strategic leadership and oversight for the management of ADASRI and develops collaborative opportunities for key scientific initiatives. He is responsible for the scientific strategic plan for the ADA, including Council on Scientific Affairs activities and its clinical excellence strategy.
