New post on Dental Practice Hub focuses on patient education
Dr. Paul Homoly, a leader in dental education known for innovative and practical approaches to practice management, has contributed his expertise to the ADA's Dental Practice Hub Web site—a resource for ADA members to use during the recession and any economic climate.
"How To Stop Educating Patients Out Your Door," written by Dr. Homoly, contains valuable advice for dentists to use while guiding patients through complex care. Patient education is not the only answer, he writes. A patient's life circumstances should be considered, and a new patient process can show how education works.
The article is featured in the Patient Communication section of the Dental Practice Hub Web site, http://dentalpracticehub.ada.org.
Dr. Homoly is president of Homoly Communications Institute, which focuses on coaching high performance dental teams and advancing communication in dentistry worldwide.
The Dental Practice Hub Web site was created to provide members with access to practical tips, expert sources and the latest news and research about how dental offices can prosper today and in the future. The site was launched in the fall of 2009 by the Council on Dental Practice and its Subcommittee on Economic Issues.
The site has four primary sections—Economic Impact, Patient Communication, Practice Management and Practice Building. Members can link to the latest economic survey data through the Hub.
The Dental Practice Hub also features "Tips from the Experts" and includes resources to help members grow their practices. New resources, such as "Advertising Basics for Dentists: A Guide to Federal and State Rules and Standards," can be found on the Hub, and downloads of the ADA logo are available in a variety of file formats to give members flexibility with marketing materials.
