The ADA is presenting a two-part webinar series in September on the importance of health literacy and how it can potentially aid dentists in the delivery of care.
Let’s Talk: The Role of Health Literacy in Health & Dentistry will stream Sept. 9 and Sept. 23 at noon Central time.
One hour of continuing education credit is available for each session.
The ADA Council on Advocacy for Access and Prevention is collaborating with the National Network for Oral Health Access on the series.
The series will provide participants an overview of health literacy, as well as help viewers learn about a universal precautions toolkit and practice teaching strategies for decreasing the disease burden of patients while increasing their capacity to understand shared information.
Laura K. Noonan, M.D., will present the series. Dr. Noonan founded and currently directs the Center for Advancing Pediatric Excellence at Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dr. Noonan was the collaborative director for Carolinas HealthCare System’s health literacy initiative and is currently co-chair of the system’s Health Literacy Governance Council.
