From attending a virtual concert — headlined by Grammy-winning group Lady A — to events dedicated for bookworms, trivia buffs and wine and beer lovers, there’s something for everyone let loose after a day of continuing education and visiting virtual exhibits.
Country music group Lady A will perform Oct. 15 on the opening night of the ADA FDC Virtual Connect Conference. The virtual concert, which is sponsored by Laurel Road, is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. CDT, immediately following the 5:30 opening session.
Known for the nine-time-platinum hit "Need You Now," Lady A has earned Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association Vocal Group of the Year trophies three years in a row, five Grammy Awards and numerous other honors, including Billboard Music Awards, People's Choice Awards, Teen Choice Awards and a Tony Award nomination.
On Oct. 16, attendees will have a choice between wine tasting, beer tasting and a book club discussion. All Oct. 16 Community Meet-Up events are sponsored by EdgeDental Specialties. The events are:
• Virtual Wine Tasting with Pride Mountain Vineyards will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m. CDT. The winery in the Napa-Sonoma region was founded by Dr. Jim Pride and his wife, Carolyn, in 1991. Dr. Pride practiced dentistry from 1960 to 1967 before becoming a professor and assistant dean at the University of the Pacific Dental School, and founding The Pride Institute, which provides practice management services to dentists around the world. The event will be facilitated by wine senior educator Nikki Lamberti and Steve Pride, who along with his sister Suzanne Pride Bryan, purchased the winery after their father’s death in 2004. Today, the winery sells 20,000 cases per year. Those who indicated their interest in participating in the wine tasting through registration, received a link to purchase a three pack of wines which include a 2017 cabernet sauvignon, 2018 chardonnay and 2017 merlot. Order submissions were due to Pride Sept. 30 in order to receive the wine in time for the tasting. The wine tasting event will be recorded, allowing dentists to participate through the end of the year. A link to purchase the wine will be posted after the event.
• Beer Tasting with Master Cicerone Averie Swanson will be held 6:30-7:30 p.m. CDT. Ms. Swanson will guide a tasting of five beers representing five different beer styles and discuss the difference between each style, along with the science behind beermaking. Those interested in joining can purchase the beers in Ms. Swanson’s shopping list: Bell’s Two Hearted, Black Butte Porter, Allagash White, Sierra Nevada Hazy Little Thing, and Sam Adams Boston Lager or Sam Adams Oktoberfest. The beer tasting event will be recorded, allowing dentists to participate through the end of the year.

The community meet ups will conclude Oct. 17 with a trivia challenge scheduled from 6:30-7:30 CDT. Quick minds and even quicker fingers can face off with other trivia buffs. Contestants can choose one of three virtual rooms with different topics, including one dedicated for all ages, allowing quiz-takers to recruit their family for help. Attendees can participate as an individual or on a team whose members will be randomly selected to encourage meeting new people to use their collective knowledge. Winners will receive prizes.
