Claims submission for crowns, bridges the subject of free Aug. 31 webinar

Dr. Calitri

The ADA is presenting a free webinar  Aug. 31 on prosthodontic claim denials and why dental insurance companies ask for various types of information and documentation and what is necessary in order to properly adjudicate claim submissions for crowns and bridges.

Streamlining Claim Submissions: Crowns and Bridges will stream live from noon-1 p.m. Central time and is worth one hour of continuing education credit.

The presenters for this webinar include Stewart Balikov, D.D.S., chief clinical officer of Anthem, and Paul Calitri, D.M.D., past member of the ADA Council on Dental Benefit Programs.

In this webinar, Dr. Balikov will discuss current treatment plan and prosthodontic claims submission expectations related to dental consultant review. He will also cover the importance of submitting radiographs that are of diagnostic quality and legible narrative descriptions to ease the claims review process. Dr. Calitri will present ADA viewpoints based on best practices and policy adopted by the ADA House of Delegates.

Claims for prosthodontic procedures routinely get heightened scrutiny and are subject to more frequent reviews, requests for additional documentation and delays than many other procedure types in dental practices, said Dr. Calitri.

“It is always frustrating when claims and predeterminations for prosthetic procedures are delayed or not paid in a timely manner,” he said. “In many cases, there are processes that we can consistently follow to maximize claims processing efficiency.”

This webinar is another of the many ways the ADA is working to support members by providing valuable educational, ready-to-use resources on innovative dental insurance solutions for dentists.
