Information blocking rule webinar set for Sept. 14

Washington — The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology will be hosting a virtual webinar on a new federal rule designed to give patients and providers secure access to electronic health information.

The one-hour webinar will take place Sept. 14 from 1-2 p.m. ET.

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Technology’s 21st Century Cares Act: Interoperability, Information Blocking and Health IT Certification Program Final Rule is intended to promote health information interoperability, patient access to their records and prohibit information blocking.

The webinar will address commonly asked questions about the rule, including:

  • What is information blocking and why should I care?
  • Why is information sharing so important?
  • What information needs to be shared and with whom?
  • What are the allowable exceptions and when do they apply?

Visit the Zoom link to register for the webinar. For those unable to join live, ONC will also release a recording of the webinar.
